Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure access to brass artistry, provide growth opportunities for the next generation of brass performers and educators, and enable a connected musical community.

Our History

FredBrass was founded in 2013 by Austin Boyer and Buddy Deshler and hosted an initial group of 10 students. By 2014, the group had tripled in size and all 10 original students returned. In 2018, Buddy Deshler and Dakota Corbliss co-founded the Tidewater Brass Institute which ran alongside the Fredericksburg Brass Institutes underneath the umbrella organization, Brass Institutes of Virginia. In 2019, Samuel Ambrose joined the board of directors, and in 2021, the Brass Institutes of Virginia re-incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit organization - the Brass Institutes of America.

We have been fortunate enough to welcome some of the most prestigious brass artists in the world, and look forward to bringing these artists to a variety of communities across the country.
